Tooth Extraction Aftercare
Your doctor will provide specific aftercare instructions. Here is what you can expect:
- Ice packs and/or warm compresses to reduce swelling and pain (if any)
- Eat soft and cool foods for a few days, trying other food as you feel comfortable.
- Gently rinse with warm salt water
- Expect any swelling and bleeding to end within a day or two after the surgery
- You should not smoke, use a straw or spit after surgery because these can pull the blood clot out of the hole where the tooth was
